KASTELLNATT 2014

One thing I am really excited about, like, super excited, is that Diplo and SOPHIE is playing at Kastellnatt ( let's just say it's one of Slottsfjell's afterparties). Still, I'm a bit sad that Kastellnatt is 18+. It's was really gnarly when you're 18, but trés annoying when you're 20+.
But I'll survive. Maybe do a shot or two when I arrive. And buy entry tix for Total also.

Last year, I was so tired from decorating the backstage areas pre-festival that I only made a brief appearance, and got even more tired by watching all the 'younger people' (BET YOU LOVE THIS ONE JUNE.) run around that I just left early. That might be a lie for more dramatic effect.
Oh, I added a little throwback pic from 2010? 2011? when I was cool as a cucumber.

Check out the line-up for Slottsfjell, Kastellnatt and Total here

NEW ORDER

Some of you might already know (and love) this awesome band, some of you might not.
The remnants of Joy Division after Ian Curtis' premeditated departure
did THE 80s soundtrack for many (myself included), released an excellent album in 2012 and played Slottsfjell festival where I got to meet, greet and shoot the shit out of them (from stage as the only photog allowed - dreamy experience).
So when my mate Henning casually rocked up after his DJ set this sat (late) night with their signed guitar in his possession I had no other choice but to make that mine.

Which I did.

It is only on borrowed time ("I will HAVE to have it back when we need it, 'k?") but for now it is (semi)permanently in my living room telling tales of legends.

Do not underestimate my persuasiveness after one too many Goose Island IPAs and Fernet Branca.

HIYA

Since the last time I was blogging, I've had:

- a visit from Anneli, which was awesome.
- one MAJOR hangover, courtesy of said friend
- suicidal tendencies, coutesy of dissertation
- traveled as far North as ever possible by tube to pick up a cheap skateboard
- spent my quota of cash to spend on 'I just need this one' & 'one more beer wouldn't hurt'
- found rad tunes that isn't possible to play while studying
- gotten hooked on watching 'skate'-EVERYTHING on YouTube
- been to dinner with Nadia who is on placement at "Ralph" (Lauren for those who isn't in the loop)

Kvelertak & The Good the Bad and the Zugly

Some of my photos from the gig at Total Scene on friday.
Sweaty show, very nice.
I had been working since morning that day and had a 13 hour work day starting the morning after.
Unfortunately it was super nice to see heaps of old acquaintances so we didn't leave until 02.30.
Respectfully declined the after-party and ate pizza in bed while watching Twilight Zone (original series) on Netflix.

Happy days.

EQUITY MODELS NETWORK LAUNCH

Tonight I'm attending an event aligned with London Fashion Week called Models Own Image: The Ethics of Fashion Photography where the 'Equity Models Network' is launched. This is a non-profit organization that aims to better the treatment and working conditions of models in the UK, by providing services that models traditionally haven't had before: health care benefits, legal advice, or just generally want to have someone else to talk to that knows what he or she is going through.
My dissertation is actually based upon these concerns and issues around the labour rights and working conditions that models is faced with. One thing most people don't know is that models are actually regarded as freelancers, making normal working rights, like minimum wage, not applicable since they are "self-employed". Everyone that knows a bit about the modelling industry know that models are definitely not free agents and 'their own boss'.
The event will have a Panel Discussion with industry insiders, but also an open discussion between everyone that are invited - the main part being professional models and insiders.
I hope - know - it will be interesting!

Late night thoughts

A few years ago I looked like a pretty cool  resident evil actor. After-parties tend to be awesome when there is electrical equipment and unlimited beers involved.

VOGUE AUSTRALIA MARCH 2014

The nicest effing cover ever. My roommate says I look like Mia Wasikowska (I wish.).

MR LITTLE JEANS

I got tired from hitting dead ends in my research, and popped onto Soundcloud to find new music.
Noticed that Mr Little Jeans has a new single out called Good Mistake.
One of the coolest exports Norway have to date.
Just listen.

TEMPLES - SUN STRUCTURES

Speaking about music - Temples just came out with their record 'Sun Structues' on the 10th of Feb. And it's aweeesome. like, really really awesome. Which explains why it is everywhere in London; number four on the charts, and I was literately blinded by the cover from every angle at Rough Trade East today. (I suspect that the employees are fans). Temples plays neo-psychedelic indie pop (these labels just keeps getting weirder.)  As my friend said ( with some exaggeration); It's like The Beatles and Tame Impala had a love child and called it Temples. The band hail from The Midlands, England. As every great British band - from nowhere, England ( just think of Arctic Monkeys hails Sheffield etc.). Anyway - have a listen if you haven't heard it.

Slottsfjell

Talking about Tønsberg; Slottsfjell is probably the biggest single thing that happens to us every year. Unless you are really into horses. Racing that is. Yeeeah, didn't think so. No big hats and fancy dresses, just cheap suits and buss rides in to town to get drunk(er).

So, Slottsfjell. It's a pretty decent mid-size music festival that takes advantage of the gorgeous view and pastures on top and around of Slottsfjellet (lit: Castle Mountain).
Both Juliette and I have been attending, working, drinking, laughing, and listened to some awesome (and some crap) music over the years.
And it is usually the shit. Proper.

I usually spend my time running around taking pictures, but usually I also aquire several embarrassing encounters with a wide range of (semi-)famous people.
Over time I will probably share stories of both.

BLEACH LONDON

It is said the biggest hair trend for 2014 is bleached hair. It was all over the A/W14 runway the last week n on the catwalk now here in London. So, a couple of days ago I tried out the BLEACH LONDON bleach kit to check if it is as affective as getting an appointment to the rad salong and paying 200+ pounds to getting bleached waves done by professionals. If you don't know Bleach London, here's the short version: started 3 years ago in Dalston, and spiraled into fame after they created the dip-dye hair trend, and the whole reason why your friends want to colour their hair pink. Now they have their own line of products and a concession in the Topshop Flagship store.

Cool packaging, no?

.....well, I saved 170 pounds - but there was too little bleach in one packet (buy two if you're gonna try it and have thick/long hair) so I had to drag my yellow striped hair to Boots and get a White Toner the next day. But the end result ended up pretty well.

x, Juliette

Sup?

So, I'm June.
(I'm the blurry one with the purple hair, Juliette is the blurry one touching her face for some reason.)

I prefer writing in Georgia since that's the font I'm currently writing my MA thesis in. Makes me think I'm being productive, you know?

Aaaanyways. Juliette is my sis. She's in über cool London, I'm in Tønsberg, Norway.

A city that has never, ever been über cool. Unless you count the fact that it's Norways oldest city. Hipster-city if you like. You know, city before all other citys bla bla.
I'm currently all about the internet, Korg synths, working too much, and pretending to write my thesis (And the Oxford comma).
Hence, procrastination.

Maybe this will become a cool place to hang out, not just for me and J, but for random people also.
People that like music and cats and fashion, and random pieces of information.

Oh, it's my cats birthday today! Yes, I am one of those people. Deal with it.

(Note: The cat pictured is neither one of my cats, if you do not know Grumpy cat we cannot be friends. No, of course we can! Sorry.)

OH HI THERE!

This is always the awkward part of starting a new blog - the whole introduction thing.
Well, there are two chicks running this shit...so I am only gonna speak for myself in this entry.
Hi, I'm Juliette.
I live in London where I study Fashion Management at London College of Fashion.
Currently writing my dissertation which I have to submit in 12 weeks, so I thought why not start a blog to procrastinate? A very awesome procrastination tho. (lucky you.)
I'm also June's little sister; the other participator of this viral (soon) explosion of awesomeness.
